Water Sanitation (2)

What is the purpose of this project?

In the water sanitation initiative, we hope to address a societal lack of water management in Kameswaram and work to increase overall access to clean drinking water for community members. Currently, we are working closely with Friend In Need (FIN), an NGO in India, to develop a solution for better access to drinking water in the village of Kameswaram. We first learned about the history behind FIN‘s work in Kameswaram and the problem scopes this village has specific to water. SC Project RISHI has established a timeline with FIN to navigate task management and productivity; we hope to implement a solution within the next academic year. Our members have spent countless nights in meetings with FIN to learn about these water regulations and government policies, as well as the basics of formulating targeted recommendation for this village. We have currently drafted one project proposal but are expected to draft more refined and complete solutions in the coming weeks. In this fall semester, we are continuing to present research to FIN and water representatives and are drafting a letter to send to the Panchayat members in Kameswaram to gain permission to obtain data from surveys that will be taken by the families. The survey is also currently being worked on.

What are our top three goals for this spring semester?

1. We will collect definite data on Kameswaram on the basis of water sanitation.

2. We will write multiple drafts of our project and solution proposal.

3. We will draft a letter to send to the Panchayat members in Kameswaram to gain permission to obtain data from surveys that will be taken by the families.
